Jordan and France Sign Defense Cooperation Agreement

Paris, September 17, 2026 : Jordan and France have signed a defense cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening bilateral partnerships and contributing to security and stability in the region.

According to the Jordan News Agency (Petra), the agreement was signed on the sidelines of talks between King Abdullah II of Jordan and French President Emmanuel Macron at Les Invalides in Paris.

The discussions covered ways to further develop cooperation between the two countries, in addition to regional and international issues of mutual interest.

King Abdullah II highlighted the importance of the Jordan-France partnership across several key areas and called for stronger international efforts to restore calm and stability in the region.

He also stressed the importance of respecting the sovereignty of Arab states and supporting efforts to safeguard their security.

For his part, President Macron reaffirmed France’s support for measures taken by Jordan to protect its security and maintain the safety and well-being of its people.
