Qatar's Abdulrahman Moustafa wins gold at the Asian Karate Championships in Jordan

Qatar’s Abdulrahman Moustafa won the gold medal in the men’s U21 under-60kg kumite category at the 24th Asian Cadet, Junior and U21 Karate Championships in Amman, Jordan.

His impressive performance earned Qatar its first gold medal of the championships.

Moustafa Cruises Through Quarterfinal

Moustafa received a bye into the quarterfinals before facing Chinese Taipei’s Shih Po-Yun.

He delivered a strong performance to secure an 11-3 victory and advance to the semifinals.

Qatar Star Wins Semi-Final

In the semifinal, Moustafa continued his excellent form against Saudi Arabia’s Sultan Al-Masiri.

The Qatari athlete produced another convincing performance, winning 11-7 to book his place in the final.

Moustafa Beats India’s Viraj Saini in Final

Moustafa faced India’s Viraj Saini in the gold-medal contest.

He controlled the final and secured a 4-1 victory, earning the Asian title and Qatar’s first gold medal at the event.

Qatar Reaches Two-Medal Mark

Moustafa’s gold medal took Qatar’s overall medal tally to two.

Earlier, Hassan Mansour won a silver medal in the junior over-76kg category on Wednesday.

Qatar’s delegation includes Moustafa and Mansour and is headed by Rashid Al-Hajri, Assistant Secretary-General of the Qatar Taekwondo, Judo and Karate Federation.

More Than 350 Athletes Compete

The championships feature kata and kumite competitions across the cadet, junior and U21 categories.

More than 350 male and female athletes from 30 Asian countries are participating in the continental event.
