3. Walk the Corniche

The Doha Corniche is a 7km crescent-shaped waterfront promenade wrapping around Doha Bay. It is fully pedestrianised, lined with palms and benches, and gives you the full sweep of the city in a single walk.
You do not need to do the whole thing. The section closest to the Souq and MIA Park gives you the best bang for your time. But if you have half a day and want to feel the transition of the city — from the low, sand-coloured old quarter at one end to the soaring glass towers of Al Dafna at the other — the full walk is one of the most interesting urban experiences in the Gulf.
It is also one of the rare places in Qatar where you feel the city breathing. People jog, cycle, fish from the railings, walk dogs. On weekend evenings (Friday and Saturday in Qatar), it fills with families.
During Ramadan it becomes something else entirely. As iftar approaches, families spread out along the Corniche with food and drinks, waiting for the cannon. The atmosphere is celebratory and warm.
