Qatari Pavilion Makes Historic Debut at Gwangju Biennale

Last Saturday, the 15th edition of the Gwangju Biennale in South Korea kicked off with distinguished participation from Qatar. For the first time, Qatar Museums organized a pavilion for an Arab country, featuring an exhibition that delves into the cultural significance of rain in Qatar through art.

On this occasion, Tania Al Majed, Deputy Director for Museum Affairs at the National Museum of Qatar, told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the Qatari pavilion showcases the "Rain" exhibition, which explores the importance of rain in Qatari culture and presents new artworks by seven Qatari artists and residents of Qatar. The pavilion, which opened on Saturday and runs through December 1, is the first and only pavilion for an Arab country at the Biennale.

The exhibition is divided into four sections, each presenting unique narratives through stunning artworks by Fatima Abbas, Farah Al-Siddiqi, Sarah Al Nuaimi, Hind Al Saad, Guillaume Rosiere, Abdulrahman Al-Muftah, and Nada Al Kharashi.

Founded in 1995, the Gwangju Biennale is a prestigious contemporary art event held in Gwangju, South Korea.
