Qatar’s U-19 handball team continued its impressive campaign at the 11th Asian Men’s Youth Handball Championship, defeating Iran 24-22 in the third round of Group B on Sunday, August 23, 2026.
The championship is being held in Amman and will continue through August 31.
Qatar Edges Iran in Close Encounter
Qatar secured a hard-fought two-goal victory after a closely contested match against Iran. The Qatari side successfully imposed its style of play and maintained control during key stages of the game.
Tactical discipline, attacking efficiency and strong defensive coordination played a crucial role in helping Qatar secure the victory.
Despite Iran’s efforts to fight back, Qatar held its composure in the closing stages to claim another important win.
Three Consecutive Victories
The victory over Iran marked Qatar’s third consecutive win in the tournament.
Qatar began its Group B campaign with a convincing 30-22 victory over Saudi Arabia in the opening round. The team followed that result with another strong performance, defeating Kuwait 30-19 in the second round.
With three wins from three matches, Qatar has established itself as one of the leading teams in Group B.

The latest victory takes Qatar’s tally to six points, putting the team at the top of Group B.
The Qatari youngsters will now turn their attention to their final group-stage fixture against Syria on Monday, August 24.
Perfect Group Stage in Sight
Qatar will aim to maintain its unbeaten record and complete a perfect group-stage campaign with a fourth consecutive victory against Syria.
A win would further strengthen Qatar’s position ahead of the knockout stages as the team continues its pursuit of success at the Asian youth championship.
