The State of Qatar participated in the Arab Document Day 2024 celebrations, organized by the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, today at its headquarters in Cairo, under the title green archives: towards a sustainable Arab archive, in coordination with the Arab Regional Branch of the International Council on Archives (Arabica).
The State of Qatar's delegation to the celebration was headed by Secretary-General of the Qatar National Archive, Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Al Buainain, in the presence of Second Secretary at the State of Qatar's Mission, Ali Hussain Al Jarhab, representing the State's Permanent Delegation to the League of Arab States.
The celebration was also attended by representatives of the permanent delegations of the member states of the Arab League, the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), heads of Arab national archives and documentation centers, and a group of Arab official and public figures and Arab documentarians.
Dr. Al Buainain stressed in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the sidelines of the celebration the importance of organizing this event, which highlights the efforts made to preserve the Arab document, and focuses in particular on the concept of the green archive and its role in protecting the environment.
He added that the participation of the State of Qatar, represented by the Qatar National Archive, in this celebration expresses the interest it attaches to this important and vital sector, as the event also focuses on enhancing cooperation with regional and international bodies working in the field of documents, documentation and archives, pointing out the participation of the Qatar National Archive in all the main topics addressed by the sessions of this event.
