The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), through its Preventive Health Directorate, has unveiled the “Ahlan for Oral Health 2026” campaign, a nationwide initiative aimed at strengthening oral health among older adults and integrating them into comprehensive healthcare programs.
Dr. Hamad Al Mudhahka, Executive Director of the Preventive Health Directorate, explained that the campaign is part of broader national efforts to highlight the link between oral health and overall well‑being. He emphasized that older adults require specialized preventive and educational interventions, making oral care a cornerstone of healthy aging.
The campaign slogan, “Elderly Oral Care, Protecting Precious Smile,” underscores its mission to raise awareness, provide home‑based dental examinations, train caregivers, and deliver a clear message that oral health is essential to quality of life.
Key activities include:
- Awareness Programs – Educational sessions for older adults and families on oral hygiene and denture care.
- Caregiver Training – Practical workshops to equip caregivers with proper oral care techniques.
- Professional Lectures – Sessions for healthcare providers to reinforce the role of oral health in healthy aging.
- Mobile Dental Units – Home‑based examinations to reach elderly individuals across regions.
- Community Engagement – School students enlisted as “Oral Health Ambassadors” to promote awareness within families and communities.
- Practical Demonstrations – Hands‑on training in tooth and denture cleaning, preventive screenings, and tailored nutritional advice.
Campaign activities will be held at health centers, Ehsan Center for Empowerment and Elderly Care, homes, and inpatient facilities at Hamad Medical Corporation, supported by media coverage across newspapers, radio, television, and social platforms.
Officials stressed that the initiative aims to make the smiles of grandparents a symbol of health and happiness, passing a message of well‑being across generations in Qatar.
