Qatar Official Gazette Publishes Medical Treatment Fees for Visitors

On October 3, 2023, the Official Gazette of the State of Qatar published the prices and fees for medical treatment services at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC). The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) Resolution No. 28 of 2023, which establishes fees for medical treatment services within the Primary Health Care Corporation, was included in the Official Gazette. Similarly, MoPH Resolution No. 29 of 2023, which establishes fees for medical care services at Hamad Medical Corporation, was also published in the Official Gazette.

The Ministry of Public Health clarified that these fees will apply only to visitors to Qatar in the current phase. Qatari nationals and other exempted groups from government healthcare facilities will continue to receive services free of charge. These new fees will also not be applicable to residents in the current phase.

As per Article 3 of the resolution, the rates and charges for medical care services at both PHCC and HMC have been finalized and will be enforced by all relevant authorities, taking effect on October 4, 2023.

Fees and charges at PHCC:
- Visual acuity screening: QR 45
- Surgical removal of a cyst: QR 1,500
- Root canal obturation (1 canal): QR 518
- Routine ECG: QR 207
- Pharmacy items: 20% of the cost

Prices for treatment and services will be determined and verified during hospital, clinic visits, or admissions.

Fees and charges at HMC:
- Glaucoma and Complex Cataract Procedures: QR 9,037
- Sleep Apnoea (Normal Stay): QR 68,916
- Sleep Apnoea (Long Stay - over 6 days): QR 86,500
- Bronchitis and Asthma w/ CC (Normal Stay): QR 15,279
- Bronchitis and Asthma w/ CC (Long Stay - over 6 days): QR 48,853
- Complex Gastroscopy w/o catastrophic CC (Normal Stay): QR 16,350
- Seizure w/ catastrophic or severe CC (Short Stay): QR 44,990.50

Prices for treatment and services will be determined and verified during hospital, clinic visits, or admissions.

The Ministry, in its statement, added that the fees and charges for medical treatment services at the Primary Health Care Corporation and Hamad Medical Corporation were determined based on the cost of services in both the corporations (The Peninsula).
