6. Breathe Through Your Nose
- Mouth breathing severely dries out the mouth and promotes bacterial growth
- If you habitually breathe through your mouth — especially at night — address the underlying cause:
- Blocked nose from allergies or deviated septum
- Enlarged tonsils or adenoids
- Sleep apnea
- Use a saline nasal spray to keep nasal passages clear
- Consider nasal strips at night if mouth breathing is an issue during sleep
