3. Exercise Regularly
Physical activity is one of the best things you can do for lung capacity and efficiency.
- Aerobic exercise — walking, running, cycling, swimming — trains your lungs to move more air with less effort
- Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week
- Swimming is particularly excellent — the humid air and breath control strengthen respiratory muscles
- Even brisk walking for 30 minutes daily makes a measurable difference
