Smoking is the single biggest threat to lung health. Cigarette smoke narrows airways, causes chronic inflammation, destroys air sacs, and is the leading cause of lung cancer and COPD.
• If you smoke, quitting at any age improves lung function within weeks
• Avoid enclosed spaces with smokers — secondhand smoke is equally damaging
• Vaping and shisha are not safe alternatives — both cause airway inflammation and long-term damage
