HH the Amir's Speech Focused on Issues of Concern to International Community

HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani underlined that the speech of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani at the opening of Doha Forum 2022 on Saturday was comprehensive and reflective of the active and effective role that the State of Qatar plays today in several files on the international scene, including settling disputes, accelerating the implementation of the development agenda, confronting climate change, and respecting international law.

In statements to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Her Excellency highlighted HH the Amir's speech that the world today has reached a pivotal stage on all political, economic, environmental, and social levels, and HH the Amir's call for radical revisions to spare the world from reaching a state of imbalance.

Her Excellency added that HH the Amir's speech did not omit the reference to the central issue of the Arab and Islamic region, which is the Palestinian cause, as well as the Syrian crisis, the situation in Afghanistan, and the responsibility of the international community to do justice to the peoples of these countries; in addition to a clear indication of what Muslims suffer in many countries from the wave of hatred of religion known as Islamophobia.

She noted that the 20th edition of the Forum is held while the world is going through a difficult period of tensions, due to the impact of the war in Ukraine, which was the focus of many of the Forum's sessions.

She said that Doha Forum has become the most important global forum that discusses many issues of concern to the international community, pointing to clear praise from the participants that Doha Forum has become today in the ranks of other global forums such as the World Economic Forum and the Munich Security Conference, due to the depth of discussions it hosts and the level of attendance, as many high-ranking officials and representatives of the Member States of the United Nations are keen to participate in it on an annual basis.

In conclusion, Her Excellency expressed her pride in the impressions that rated Doha Forum as "higher than other forums at the global level", which confirms the extent to which Doha reflects today, that it has become a capital for all, a global station, and a venue for important negotiations and discussions on political, developmental, economic, environmental and others issues.
