Doha, November 02, 2026 : The State of Qatar has strongly condemned the attack targeting the Al Mayeda liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier, owned by Qatar Gas Transport Company Limited (Nakilat), while sailing in the Arabian Gulf.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the incident as a serious threat to maritime navigation and the security of global energy supplies.
The Ministry affirmed that Qatar reserves the right to take all necessary measures, in accordance with international law and the UN Charter, to protect its assets, vessels and crews. It also confirmed that the relevant authorities have launched investigations to establish the circumstances of the incident and identify those responsible.
The Ministry further cautioned that such actions could have serious consequences for regional security and stability, as well as the global economy. It highlighted the potential environmental dangers of targeting energy carriers, including the risks posed to the marine environment and water security across the region.
