Doha, October 18, 2026: Qatar Charity (QC) has launched its 2026 Winter Heroes campaign, aiming to raise QR 120 million to support vulnerable families affected by harsh winter conditions, prolonged humanitarian crises and financial hardship.
The campaign will fund winter relief, humanitarian assistance and development projects worldwide, alongside social welfare programmes in Qatar. Its objectives, key initiatives and target beneficiaries were announced at a press conference attended by Qatar Charity officials.
Abdulaziz Hejji, Executive Director of Communications and Community Impact at QC, said the campaign expands the concept of humanitarian heroism to recognize everyone involved in helping others, including donors, volunteers, mothers and children who contribute to charitable initiatives.
He explained that launching the campaign in October allows assistance to reach vulnerable communities before temperatures drop and severe winter conditions set in. The early start reflects Qatar Charity’s focus on proactive giving and preparedness to help prevent further hardship.
This year’s campaign also places greater emphasis on engaging children and young people through interactive activities and awareness initiatives designed to promote generosity, volunteerism, humanitarian action and social responsibility from an early age.
Aisha Abdulrazzaq Al Kuwari, Director of Humanitarian Operations at QC, said the campaign aims to raise QR 70 million to finance relief efforts in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Lebanon, Sudan, Somalia, Djibouti, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania and Kosovo.
Planned assistance includes blankets, winter clothing, heaters, heating fuel, tents, plastic sheeting, food supplies and cooking stoves to help families withstand difficult winter conditions.
In Qatar, Faisal Rashid Al Fehaida, Executive Director of the Alaqraboon Center, said the centre aims to raise more than QR 50 million to support local assistance programmes, with approximately 23,000 people expected to benefit.
The local initiatives will provide food parcels and winter kits to low-income families, winter clothing to orphans and other sponsored beneficiaries, and winter supplies, medical treatment and health awareness programmes for workers.
The campaign will also support healthcare initiatives for people with kidney failure, provide medical insurance for orphans and offer emergency assistance to individuals facing exceptional circumstances, including illness and loss of income. Additional sponsorship opportunities and other social welfare projects will also be included.
Qatar Charity has called on individuals, businesses and institutions across Qatar to contribute to the Winter Heroes campaign, stressing that every donation can help ease the burden on families facing winter hardship and financial difficulties.
