Food and Culture
Abha's food scene reflects its highland setting and its place at a cultural crossroads between the Hejaz, the highlands, and neighboring Yemen. Local Asiri dishes are worth seeking out alongside more familiar Saudi staples, and the city's cafés — especially those in Abha High City and along Art Street — are made for lingering over the view. The Tuesday Traditional Market is a good, low-cost way to browse local crafts, produce, and get a feel for daily life away from the tourist sites.
The region's traditional Asiri wall art, known as Al-Qatt Al-Asiri, is another cultural signature worth looking out for — bold geometric patterns traditionally painted by women inside homes, now recognized by UNESCO as an element of intangible cultural heritage.
