US Vice President Confirms Delegation Leaves Pakistan Without Agreement With Iran

JD Vance, US Vice President

US Vice President JD Vance announced that the American delegation had departed Pakistan after 21 hours of negotiations with Iran, confirming that the talks ended without agreement.

Speaking to reporters, Vance acknowledged “shortcomings” in the discussions, stating that the Iranian delegation refused to accept Washington’s terms. He declined to specify which proposals were rejected but emphasized that the United States sought clear assurances that Tehran would not pursue a nuclear weapon.

“The bad news is that we have not reached an agreement, and I think that’s bad news for Iran much more than it’s bad news for the United States of America,” Vance said. He added that the US negotiating team remained in direct contact with President Donald Trump throughout the talks and had presented what he described as “our final and best offer.”

Vance further noted: “We just could not get to a situation where the Iranians were willing to accept our terms. I think we were quite flexible, we were quite accommodating. The president told us, ‘You need to come here in good faith and make your best effort to get a deal.’ We did that, and unfortunately, we weren’t able to make any headway.”

The Vice President’s remarks underscore the widening gap between Washington and Tehran, despite international efforts to consolidate a ceasefire and stabilize the region. Analysts warn that the failure to reach an agreement could complicate broader diplomatic initiatives aimed at de‑escalation and safeguarding global energy and maritime security.
