In his final hours as president, Joe Biden issued pardons for allies he believed could face scrutiny under Trump’s presidency. Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th U.S. president in a ceremony at the Capitol Rotunda, attended by foreign leaders and far-right figures. In his address, he criticized Biden’s administration, announced plans to reclaim the Panama Canal, declared a border emergency, and reclassified drug cartels as terrorists. He also withdrew the U.S. from the Paris Agreement and signed executive orders halting federal regulations and hiring.
