A Qatari search and rescue unit has been deployed to central Spain to support ongoing efforts to bring several large wildfires under control, working alongside Spanish authorities and local emergency services."
The International Search and Rescue Group, part of Qatar's Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), has begun operating in the field in close coordination with Spain's Ministry of the Interior and regional response teams.
Shortly after arriving, the Qatari contingent met with Spain's Secretary-General for Civil Protection and Emergencies, together with local officials, to review the current state of the fires and agree on how information would be shared as conditions evolve.
The group has since drawn up a deployment plan and started work on the ground, concentrating its efforts around the town of Piedralaves in the province of รvila, part of the Castilla y Leรณn region of central Spain.
