Doha: The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) is preparing to launch its 2026–2027 Back-to-School campaign on Sunday, August 30, under the slogan “Healthy Bodies Build Strong Nations.”

The campaign, organised through PHCC’s School Health Program and Services, will continue until September 10 across all public schools and kindergartens in Qatar.

The initiative aims to encourage students to adopt healthy and sustainable daily habits while highlighting the important connection between physical and mental wellbeing, academic performance and overall quality of life.

Key Health Areas

The campaign will focus on several priority areas, including:

•    Maintaining healthy sleep habits
•    Reducing excessive use of electronic devices
•    Drinking sufficient water
•    Following a balanced and nutritious diet
•    Staying physically active
•    Developing self-regulation and personal responsibility
•    Supporting mental and emotional wellbeing
•    Encouraging positive social behaviour at school

PHCC said this year’s campaign will take a more practical approach by introducing weekly tracking cards and self-assessment tools. These resources will help students monitor their daily habits and make improvements over time.

The aim is to ensure that health awareness goes beyond educational messages and becomes part of students’ everyday routines.

Parents and Teachers to Play Key Role

The campaign will not focus only on students. Parents, teachers and school nursing staff will also be involved as important partners in encouraging and maintaining healthy behaviour both at school and at home.

Manager of School Health Program and Services at PHCC and Community Medicine Consultant Dr. Layla Abdulla Aldahnaim described the campaign as a strategic step towards developing a generation that is more health-conscious and better equipped to follow healthy and sustainable lifestyles.

Educational and Interactive Activities Planned

A wide range of activities will be organised for students of different age groups, including educational lectures, classroom and extracurricular activities, workshops, health education sessions and awareness material for parents.

Students will also receive tools designed to help them apply what they learn both inside and outside the school environment.

‘Healthy Bodies Build Strong Nations’ Competition

As part of the campaign, PHCC will organise the “Healthy Bodies Build Strong Nations” competition for students across all educational stages in public schools.

The competition aims to encourage creativity and innovation while giving students an opportunity to produce work related to healthy lifestyles and spread positive health messages throughout their school communities.

Key competition themes will include digital balance, healthy sleep, proper nutrition, water consumption, physical activity, emotional regulation and mental readiness for learning.

PHCC said the wider campaign reflects an integrated approach to building sustainable healthy behaviours among young people and supporting Qatar’s long-term vision for human development.
