To recognize the work of ride-hailing and delivery Captains during Ramadan, Careem is matching all tips made on the app across the UAE, Pakistan, Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain throughout the holy month. Customers will be able to tip Captains on the app for rides after the completion of a ride and for food and grocery deliveries at order checkout. Careem will then match the amount weekly, allowing Captains to receive double the tip. Careem is pausing accepting new orders for food in all markets for 30 minutes to enable Captains to break their fast during iftar time.
Careem is also partnering with restaurants across the region to deliver iftar meals to Captains. In the UAE, Careem is working with Ravi, Chicken Tikka Inn, Copper Kettle, and Dumpukth to bring dine-in iftar service to Captains on Mondays and Tuesdays and pick-up meals from Wednesdays to Fridays. In Qatar, Careem has partnered with the Dusit Doha Hotel to offer Captains iftar packs to break their fast as they drive through the hotel close to iftar time.
Careem’s grocery dark store network, ‘Quik’, will provide nearly 8,000 complimentary fast breaker boxes with water and dates to grocery and ride-hailing customers just before iftar through a partnership with Masafi and Le Damas.
Mudassir Sheikha, CEO and Co-founder of Careem, commented: “We’re grateful to have the opportunity to give back to our hard-working Captains during the holy month of Ramadan. We’re matching tips to increase earnings during the month and working with our network of restaurant partners to deliver iftar meals in the UAE and Qatar.”
The Careem multi-service app is available on the Apple App Store, Google Play, or via direct Android download.
