CEO of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, Nasser Al Khater, took part in MISK Global Forum 2024, one of the largest youth forums in the world, which was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, under the theme: "By Youth, For Youth.".
In a panel discussion alongside Head of the Saudi 2034 World Cup Bid Unit, Hammad Albalawi, titled: the future of world cup with innovative vision, held at MISK Global Forum 2024, to mark the tournaments two-year anniversary, Al Khater noted the impact of the historic FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 hosted by the State of Qatar, underscoring the youth's pivotal role in all stages of the world tournament.
He highlighted the importance of youth at every stage of Qatar 2022, from planning and execution to post-event initiatives, praising the thousands of young volunteers, professionals, and entrepreneurs from across the Arab world who contributed to the events success, creating pathways for young people in sports management, technology, hospitality, and cultural diplomacy.
During the discussion, both highlighted the role of major sporting events in driving positive change in the Middle East and Arab World and making positive large-scale changes in the life of youth and societies.
The World Cup was such an important moment for Qatar. It was more than just an event, it was a matter of national pride for Qatar and the region, as well as an opportunity to deliver this tournament as inspirational for a young team and organization that grew into the challenge, said Al Khater, hoping that it would inspire the next generation of people in the region who want to achieve what others said was impossible.
With a final decision set to be made on Saudi Arabias bid to host the FIFA World 2034, Hammad Albalawi admitted his team have looked to Qatar 2022 as a foundation to galvanize regional solidarity and youth empowerment, underlining that Qatar really set the standard by hosting the best FIFA World Cup of all time.
Having succeeded in hosting the best edition of the World Cup ever, Albalawi added that the State of Qatar has raised the bar for hosting future editions of the tournament, adding that this paved the way and inspired invaluable lessons and extensive experiences provided by the team behind the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, a country that fulfilled its promise and achieved an impressively unprecedented hosting.
Two years after welcoming 1.4 million visitors to the State of Qatar for the World Cup matches, the legacy of the 2022 Qatar World Cup continues to reverberate across the Arab world and the region, as Qatar is set to host the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2024 at the stunning Stadium 974 and the iconic Lusail Stadium from Dec. 11-18, 2024.
The tournament will culminate with a decisive final match featuring Real Madrid, marking the second anniversary of the historic final of the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
The Misk Global Forum 2024 is a prominent annual event organized by the Mohammed bin Salman Foundation (MiSK), serving as a platform for productive discussions, sharing ideas and networking across a range of sectors. It intends to support innovation and advancing the potential of youth at the local, regional, and global levels.
The list of participants in the event included HRH Prince Turki bin Talal Al-Saud, founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates, co-founder of Apple, Steve Wozniak, alongside the host of Europe's No. 1 podcast 'The Diary of a CEO' Steven Bartlett.
