Qatar Diamond Exchange

The Qatar Diamond Exchange (QDE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Borsa Diamanti d’Italia, also known as the Diamond Bourse of Italy, to establish a strategic partnership between the two bourses.

The agreement was signed during the CIBJO Centenary Congress, held in Vicenza, Italy, from September 4 to 7, 2026. The MoU was signed by Ghanim Nasser Al-Saadi, Director of the Qatar Diamond Exchange, and Luigi Cosma, President of Borsa Diamanti d’Italia and Vice President of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB).

Strengthening Qatar-Italy Diamond Industry Ties

The new partnership will create a framework for stronger connections between members of the two bourses. It aims to encourage commercial relationships, mutual introductions and wider cooperation between businesses in Qatar and Italy.

The two exchanges will also invite their members and management teams to participate in industry events, tenders, auctions and diamond viewings. Reciprocal visits will further support business networking and knowledge exchange.

Promoting Natural Diamonds and Industry Standards

QDE and Borsa Diamanti d’Italia have also agreed to support initiatives aimed at strengthening consumer confidence in natural diamonds and precious stones.

Both organisations will work to uphold recognised industry standards, including the World Diamond Council’s System of Warranties and standards promoted by the Responsible Jewellery Council.
Officials Highlight Partnership Opportunities

Ghanim Nasser Al-Saadi said the agreement represents a step towards strengthening QDE’s international network and expanding its engagement with established diamond markets.

He highlighted Italy’s strong position in the global diamond and jewellery industry, noting that the partnership will create opportunities for members to develop commercial relationships, exchange expertise and connect with industry counterparts.

Luigi Cosma said the strength of the diamond trade depends on connections between its major centres. He welcomed Qatar’s growing role as a regulated market and said the partnership would create opportunities for members from both countries to connect in Doha and Milan.

Borsa Diamanti d’Italia Celebrates 100 Years

The agreement was signed as the World Jewellery Confederation marked its 100th anniversary. Borsa Diamanti d’Italia is also celebrating its centenary in 2026.

Founded in Milan in December 1926, the organisation is Italy’s oldest trade association and remains a central institution for the country’s diamond trade.

QDE Expands Global Bourse Partnerships

The agreement with Italy follows MoUs previously signed between QDE and the Diamond Exchange of Singapore, Shanghai Diamond Exchange and Tokyo Diamond Exchange.

The latest partnership expands QDE’s network from Asia into Europe, strengthening its connections with international diamond trading centres.

Supporting Qatar’s Diamond Sector

Launched in July 2026 and based at Ras Bufontas Free Zone, QDE provides an integrated and regulated platform for diamond trading and related industry services.

The exchange connects Doha with international markets while supporting the growth of Qatar’s diamond and precious stones sector. Its activities also contribute to Qatar’s economic diversification objectives under Qatar National Vision 2030.
