January: Peak Winter Chill
January is when winter truly takes hold. Mid-winter brings a cold snap, with average monthly temperatures around 63°F. The coldest days arrive around January 6, when temperatures drop to approximately 59°F.
While 59°F might seem mild to those coming from Northern Europe or North America, for Qataris and long-term residents accustomed to 110°F+ summers, January feels genuinely cold.
January highlights:
- The true winter chill
- Clear, crisp mornings
- Long-sleeve and light jacket weather
- Best time for outdoor activities without heat exhaustion risk
- Water sports become enjoyable again
