Trump Says US Has 'Massive' Ammunition Stockpile, Dismisses Shortage Reports

Washington: US President Donald Trump has insisted that the United States possesses a vast stockpile of ammunition, rejecting recent reports that suggested the country's military capabilities have been significantly weakened by declining weapons inventories.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said the United States has "massive amounts of ammunition," particularly certain types of munitions, and stressed that the country's defence industry is expanding production at an unprecedented pace.

Trump said American defence manufacturers are building more factories and production facilities than at any other point in the nation's history and are producing large quantities of weapons that are being delivered immediately to meet domestic military requirements. He maintained that the United States remains fully prepared to respond to any future security challenges.

The president strongly criticised reports alleging shortages of key ammunition stockpiles, describing the leaks as "treasonous." He said those responsible would be identified and prosecuted, adding that his administration would seek the harshest legal penalties, including lengthy prison sentences, against anyone found guilty of leaking sensitive defence information.

Trump's remarks came after media reports claimed that Washington's military stockpiles had been significantly depleted following recent operations. According to those reports, the United States has used a substantial portion of its inventory of THAAD missile interceptors, as well as long-range precision-guided weapons, including the Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) and the Precision Strike Missile (PrSM).

The reports also suggested that concerns over declining weapons inventories had influenced recent military planning. However, the White House and Pentagon have rejected those claims, maintaining that the US military retains sufficient firepower to meet operational requirements while continuing efforts to expand defence production.

Trump reiterated that the United States continues to possess one of the world's strongest military arsenals and said his administration remains committed to strengthening defence manufacturing capacity to ensure long-term military readiness.
