Validity Period and Restrictions

A provisional driving license Qatar issues is generally valid for 12 months from the date of issue. During that time:
- You may only drive accompanied by the school-assigned supervisor or during official training sessions
- Solo driving on public roads is prohibited and carries fines under Qatar driving regulations
- The permit is not valid outside Qatar
- If the permit expires before you finish the process, renewal requires a fee and re-submission of selected documents
An expired provisional permit is flagged instantly during roadside checks. Traffic police treat it as driving without a valid license — the consequences are not minor.
