The competitions of the first edition of the Qatar Tennis Federation Open Championship 2025, organized by the Federation on the courts of Khalifa International Complex began Thursday with the participation of more than 250 male and female players.

The 10-day tournament witnesses competitions in several categories, including the boys and girls categories under 18, 14, 12, and 10 years old, in addition to the men's and women's singles and doubles competitions, as well as the masters category 45 years old and above.

A number of Qatari players presented a distinguished performance Thursday, where player Ghanem Al Sulaiti managed to qualify for the quarter-finals in the men's singles category after his Egyptian counterpart Ahmed Al Shami withdrew due to injury.

In the boys' category under-18, player Tamim Samara qualified for the quarter-finals after defeating his Egyptian counterpart Tarek Awad 6-2, 6-2.

In the boys' under-10 competition, player Abdulaziz Khalifa reached the semi-finals after his competitor Adam Harb withdrew in the quarter-final match.

Hamad Al Kubaisi also qualified for the quarter-finals of the boys' under-14 category after defeating his compatriot Hamza Al-Sabbagh 4-6, 6-4, 7-5.

In turn, player Abdullah Al Abdullah qualified for the quarter-finals of the boys' under-14 category after defeating his compatriot Ibrahim Al-Hajj 6-1, 6-0.

Sultan Khalfan, the tournament director, said in a statement: "We are approaching the final stages of the tournament in many competitions, as we have witnessed a high level of performance from the players, which reflects the remarkable development of the game in Qatar." Khalfan added that this tournament is very important in developing the levels of Qatari players, and motivating them to achieve more progress. It contributes to the advancement of tennis in Qatar in general, as it provides a platform for various players to participate and compete.
