Qatar Maintains Safe and Controlled Air Operations

Qatar’s Civil Aviation Authority has confirmed that the country’s air transport sector remains under full operational control despite rising regional tensions and increased risks to airspace safety.

Acting President Mohammed bin Faleh Al Hajri stated that operations continue under the highest safety and efficiency standards, with a phased approach based on continuous risk assessments.

Following a precautionary closure, Qatar partially reopened its airspace on March 7, allowing limited flights through designated corridors under strict monitoring and coordination with the armed forces.

Authorities highlighted serious risks, including drones, missiles, and debris, along with challenges such as aircraft misidentification and restricted zones, making airspace management highly sensitive.

The Civil Aviation Authority emphasized that Qatar’s airspace is protected by a multi‑layered surveillance system, with advanced radars, real‑time tracking, and close military coordination to ensure full coverage and rapid response.

Efforts continue to support stranded passengers and maintain cargo operations, ensuring essential supplies reach the country while sustaining connectivity and stability.
