On 15 April 2026, the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority announced thee closure of several non-compliant travel agencies.

As part of its continuous efforts to enhance the oversight and regulation of the aviation sector, the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) represented by Air Transport Department carried out an inspection campaign for travel and air cargo offices.

This was for them to confirm that they operate according to approved rules and systems, with activities carried out within the recognition of relevant regulatory regimes.
As a result of this campaign, several violations were detected and addressed in accordance with the recognized laws by enforcing legal and administrative measures imposed accordingly alongside corrective actions or fines depending on each violation.

These actions resulted in, among other things, the closure and removal from regulatory records of some travel offices that did not follow relevant law.

It added that the Authority's efforts, which have been taken in accordance with legal standards, approved by the Council of Ministers, reaffirmed its obligation to protect all parties' rights and contribute to improving performance and transparency levels in this vital sector.

The Authority also urges all travel and air cargo offices to completely comply with regulations and directives approved by the Authority, as well as take the lead in regularizing their status without delay. It emphasized the role of periodic and random inspection campaigns in enhancing the quality of service and creating an organized business environment, all interpreted as building beneficiaries confidence in the civil aviation sector.
