Doha, September 30, 2026 : The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) has launched its annual breast cancer awareness campaign, emphasizing the vital importance of early detection.

New Campaign Theme Urges Women to Prioritize Screening

Under the theme "Your Strength Begins with Screening," the initiative aims to encourage women across Qatar to prioritize their health and undergo screening for prevention and protection against the disease.

Part of National "Screen for Life" Program

The National Breast and Bowel Screening Program, also known as "Screen for Life," is a life-saving, population-based initiative aligned with Qatar's National Cancer Program and the country's National Health Strategy. The program reflects a broader shift toward preventive, community-centered care, with a nationwide awareness campaign launched each year to promote early detection through screening.

Month-Long Campaign to Use Multiple Outreach Channels

Throughout October, the campaign will use both traditional and digital marketing channels to maximize outreach and engagement, built around the core message that awareness combined with proactive screening can save lives.

Screening Recommended for Women Aged 45-69

The breast screening program is recommended for all women — citizens and residents of Qatar — aged between 45 and 69, who have no symptoms related to breast cancer and have not undergone a mammogram in the past three years. Healthy women within this age group are encouraged to take advantage of this preventative measure.

PHCC Official Urges Women to Book Screenings

Director of Screening Programs at PHCC Dr. Shaikha Abu Shaikha said: "If you are between 45 and 69, have not had a mammogram in the last three years, and do not have symptoms, or even if you know someone who fits these criteria, we advise you to schedule a screening appointment."

She added: "Awareness is the first step in fighting breast cancer. Through this campaign, we aim to empower women with knowledge and encourage routine screening to ensure peace of mind and better health outcomes."
