OIC Warns Against Israeli Measures Aimed at Annexing Palestinian Territory

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has warned of what it described as grave risks arising from announced Israeli measures that it says are intended to advance annexation and impose Israeli sovereignty over the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

In a statement issued from Jeddah on August 14, the OIC General Secretariat said the proposed measures and transfer of powers were unlawful and formed part of broader plans for annexation.

OIC Reaffirms Position on Settlements and Occupation

The organisation reiterated its position that the Israeli occupation and settlement enterprise, together with measures, entities and institutions associated with it, are illegal under international law.

It said actions stemming from these policies constitute violations of international law, relevant international resolutions and the advisory opinion issued by the International Court of Justice.
