MoI: A Person Rescued Off Qatari Waters After Falling from Merchant Ship
The Ministry of Interior (MoI) announced that the Aeronautical and Maritime Search and Rescue teams succeeded in rescuing a Korean national after he fell from a merchant ship that had entered Qatari waters.
In a Twitter statement, the MoI said that the Aeronautical and Maritime Search and Rescue teams of the General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security, the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), the Amiri Naval Forces, and the Amiri Air Force rescued, in a joint operation, a Korean citizen after he fell from a merchant ship that had entered Qatari waters.
The statement explained that joint search and rescue teams acted immediately after receiving information and intensified search operations at the same location of the ship and surrounding marine areas by using specialized marine gadgets and helicopters.
The missing person was rescued in the water after 24-hour joint efforts, then, he was transported directly to Hamad Hospital for necessary first aid, the statement added.
