Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives Meets Qatar's Ambassador

MALE - HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives Dr. Iruthisham Adam met with HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar (non-resident) to the Republic of Maldives Hamad bin Mohammed Al Dosari. During the meeting, the two sides reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to enhance and develop them, in addition to a number of topics of common interest.

Follows Presentation of Credentials

The meeting comes shortly after HE President of the Republic of Maldives Dr. Mohamed Muizzu received the credentials of Ambassador Hamad bin Mohammed Al Dosari as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar (non-resident) to the Republic of Maldives.

During the credentials ceremony, the Maldivian President entrusted the Ambassador with conveying his greetings to His Highness the Amir, wishing His Highness good health and happiness, and the State of Qatar continued progress and prosperity.

Strengthening Qatar-Maldives Ties

Qatar and the Maldives established diplomatic relations in May 1984, and cooperation between the two countries has developed across a range of fields in the decades since, including development assistance and humanitarian support.

Diplomatic engagement between the two sides has strengthened notably in recent months. Earlier in July, HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi received a copy of the credentials of HE Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives to the State of Qatar Adam Shareef Umar, wishing him success in his duties and emphasising Qatar's support for enhancing bilateral relations and fostering closer cooperation across various fields.

Dr. Iruthisham Adam was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives in April 2026, having previously served as the country's High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.
