Israeli Parliament Approves Death Penalty Law for Palestinians Convicted of Fatal Attacks

Israeli parliament approves death penalty law

The Israeli parliament has passed a controversial law imposing the death penalty on Palestinians convicted of fatal attacks. The legislation, approved on March 30 with a 62–48 vote, mandates execution by hanging for Palestinians in the occupied West Bank convicted by military courts of “nationalistic” killings.

The Palestinian Presidency strongly rejected the law, condemning it as a “war crime” against the Palestinian people. Leaders emphasized that such measures escalate tensions and violate international law.

The new legislation has drawn widespread criticism and raised concerns over human rights and the protection of civilians in the region. Observers warn that the move could further inflame instability and deepen divisions across the occupied territories.
