Doha, October 13, 2026 : The sixth edition of Showtime! 2026, organized by Qatar Foundation’s Pre-University Education, has concluded with the participation of 50 students from six QF schools, offering them an opportunity to develop artistic and personal skills through theatre.
The programme featured the bilingual theatrical production The Secret of the Garden, accompanied by the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, which operates under the umbrella of Qatar Foundation. The experience combined creativity with practical learning, helping students strengthen their communication and teamwork skills while using Arabic in an interactive artistic setting.
Aisha Al Sultan, Performing Arts Specialist at the Qatar Music Academy within Qatar Foundation’s Pre-University Education, said the educational benefits of Showtime! extended beyond the final performance to include the entire creative process, from auditions and script readings to rehearsals, overcoming challenges and performing before an audience.
She explained that taking part in the production helped students develop a range of abilities, including acting, vocal performance, movement and emotional expression. It also encouraged them to understand their characters and explore their motivations.
Arabic played a central role in this year’s production, allowing students to improve their understanding of vocabulary and language structures by applying them in practical situations rather than relying solely on memorization.
Al Sultan added that the programme connects theatre with classroom learning by giving students opportunities to apply their academic skills in real-world contexts. Reading helps them interpret scripts and understand characters, while language supports communication with audiences. Music and movement also contribute to developing concentration, memory and coordination.
