Transportation from the Salwa border to Doha Metro stations to be planned for Saudi fans
According to Nasser Al Khater, CEO of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, there are preparations in the works to bring Saudi supporters to Qatar by land border.
Al Khater told Qatar News Agency during a live Twitter feed that buses are being considered to take supporters from the Salwa border crossing to Doha Metro stations, where they would be connected to stadiums or other state facilities.
He went on to say that there are also plans for these buses to leave Saudi Arabia, but that these specifics would be made public shortly.
Regarding other GCC fans, Al Khater stated that they can visit Qatar through shuttle flights, and that these one-day tickets would be issued at a later date in collaboration with Qatar Airways and other air carriers.
He stated that the committee had initiated a campaign to create awareness about getting Hayya cards for fans, and that the effort was paying off as demand for the card and lodging increased.
The CEO of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 said that Qatar's successful World Cup bid 12 years ago prompted the government to invest in infrastructure, notably athletic facilities. Those who have already visited Qatar will notice significant changes during the World Cup, he says. He also vowed that supporters will have an unforgettable World Cup in Qatar.
