Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema has been offered a staggering $428m to sign for a football team in Saudi Arabia, according to media reports in Europe.

The 35-year-old Ballon D’Or winner is out of contract this summer and would be free to join the club of his choice.

Real Madrid are keen to offer an extension and the French international would not be short of offers if he does decide to depart the Spanish side after 14 years.

Benzema linked with Saudi move

Madrid-based Spanish news outlet AS Sport, reports that Benzema has been offered a two-year contract worth $428m to move to an un-named team in the Saudi Pro League.

It would mean following in the well-paid footsteps of former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, who signed for Al Nassr at the turn of the year.

AS Sport claims any potential offer for Benzema would include ambassadorial duties to promote Saudi Arabia as well as a potential bid to host the World Cup in 2030.

The strategy would also include a contract offer for Lionel Messi to join a Saudi club as well, claims AS Sport.
