QatarEnergy celebrates first LNG export from Golden Pass project in Texas
QatarEnergy has celebrated the successful export of the first liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo from the Golden Pass LNG project in Sabine Pass, Texas, a joint venture with ExxonMobil. The milestone marks the commencement of full commercial and export operations for one of the largest LNG investments in the United States.
The inaugural shipment was loaded aboard Al‑Qaiqah, QatarEnergy’s newly built LNG carrier from the Republic of Korea, with a capacity of 174,000 cubic meters. Officials described the event as a landmark achievement in QatarEnergy’s global expansion strategy.
Commenting on the occasion, H.E. Saad Sherida Al‑Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs and President and CEO of QatarEnergy, said: “This is a significant industry milestone that marks a new chapter in QatarEnergy’s global efforts to meet rising LNG demand and ensure reliable supplies to international markets.”
Al‑Kaabi emphasized that the Golden Pass LNG project represents one of the single largest investment decisions in the history of the U.S. LNG sector, with a final investment exceeding USD 10 billion. He noted that the project underscores QatarEnergy’s reputation as a reliable provider and trusted partner in driving global energy growth.
He extended thanks to U.S. authorities and regulators for their cooperation, and praised the dedication of QatarEnergy and Golden Pass LNG teams, alongside the strategic partnership with ExxonMobil, in delivering this milestone project.
