AlHaram Plant
In celebration of World Environment Day, a striking new sculpture titled 'AlHaram Plant' by renowned Qatari artist Moudi Al Hajri has been unveiled at the Corniche Underpass in Doha. This impressive piece is the result of a collaboration between the City Beautification Projects Implementation Team and Qatar Museums, reflecting a commitment to enhancing the cultural and environmental experiences of visitors.
The sculpture, made from stainless steel and measuring 5 meters by 5 meters, is designed to mirror the color of the Qatari flag. It artistically represents a local perennial plant from the succulent family, with Al Hajri crafting the plant's form into spherical branches of various shapes and sizes. This artistic rendering not only showcases the plant's unique beauty but also emphasizes the rich diversity of Qatar's plant life.
'AlHaram Plant' joins the extensive array of public art projects across Qatar, part of a larger initiative to transform the nation's public spaces into an open-air museum. This initiative aims to make art accessible to all, enriching the daily lives of both residents and visitors by embedding cultural landmarks throughout the urban landscape.
