The Qatar Through Syrian Lens Exhibition was inaugurated this evening in Building 19 of the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara), in cooperation with the Syrian Embassy in the country.

The exhibition was opened by Director of Human Resources Department in Katara Saif Saad Al Dosari, in the presence of Charge d'Affaires of the Syrian Embassy in Doha Dr. Bilal Turkiya, and a number of artists and interested guests.

The exhibition will run until Feb. 26, with 45 paintings by 15 artists on display.

In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Dr. Bilal Turkiya said the exhibition reflects the strength of ties between the Qatari and Syrian people, and highlights the place the State of Qatar occupies in the hearts of Syrians.

He noted that the Syrian photographers expressed their love for Qatar through taking photos of its landmarks from north to south, presenting photographs from the desert, archeological sites, markets, as well as modern places and high-rise buildings.

For his part, photographer Abdel Nasser Al Jiroudi told QNA that the exhibition is the first of its kind for Syrian photographers in Qatar, noting that he participates in this exhibition with 8 works on the Qatari environment and the Qatari heritage, in addition to works of the National Day.

Combining the past with the present, photographer Musab Al Hawamdeh participates in the exhibition with three pictures of Al-Jamil village in northwest Qatar, Barzan Tower, and the modern Doha Towers.

The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) is keen, through these exhibitions, to build bridges of communication between peoples, enrich the cultural scene in the State of Qatar and open windows to learn about different cultures from all over the world.
