QCDC empowers people facing learning challenges

QCDC celebrated the successful culmination of the innovative initiative dedicated to empowering people with learning difficulties

The Qatar Career Development Center (QCDC) introduced a groundbreaking initiative, Empower Ability, which has provided empowerment to numerous individuals confronting learning challenges. In its inaugural edition, 16 participants engaged in interactive workshops, educational activities, and orientation sessions, contributing to National Sport Day 2024 events.

Empower Ability, in collaboration with entities such as Qatar Foundation, the Ministry of Labour, Qatar University, and others, seeks to implement inclusive employment principles and accessible career advancement. The closing ceremony, held at Education City, honored participants, institutions, trainers, and volunteers.

Special awards were presented to three outstanding participants, while all others received certificates recognizing their commitment and acquired skills. Saad Al Kharji, QCDC’s Career Programs and Services Manager, emphasized the program's impact on participants' lives, preparing them not only to enter the job market but to excel in it.

QCDC aims to continue and expand the initiative in partnership with collaborators. Alanood Jamal, Manager of the Empower Ability program, highlighted its focus on nurturing inclusive environments and enhancing vital employability skills. The initiative integrates youth with learning challenges, providing hands-on experience and essential job skills, including effective communication and teamwork, facilitating their smooth integration into the workforce.

Jamal noted that the three-week program targeted individuals aged 18 to 30 with various learning difficulties from organizations like Qatar Society for Rehabilitation of Special Needs, Jusour, and Qatar University. The initiative aimed to develop participants' working and soft skills, emphasizing event organization to integrate them into society effectively.
