India reported 30,948 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, with 403 people succumbing to the infection in the last 24 hours, according to data shared by the Union Health Ministry.

Total recoveries were at 3,16,36,469 across the country, while active cases stood at 3,53,398. In the last 24 hours, active cases declined by 7,942.

Among all the states, Kerala reported the highest Covid-19 cases at 17,106, followed by Maharashtra with 4,575 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,652 cases, Karnataka with 1,350 cases and Andhra Pradesh with 1,217 cases.

These five states accounted for 83.68 per cent of the daily new cases reported on Sunday, with Kerala alone responsible for 55.27 per cent of the fresh infections.

On Sunday, 403 Covid-related fatalities were recorded. Maximum casualties were reported in Maharashtra (145), followed by Kerala with 83 deaths in the last 24 hours.

A total of 38,487 patients recovered during the last 24 hours. The recovery rate further increased to 97.57 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate continued to remain below five per cent.

India conducted 15,85,681 tests during the previous day, according to the Health Ministry data.

A total of 52,23,612 vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours, which brings the total tally of doses administered to 58,14,89,377.
