The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) has confiscated a significant number of illegal electronic bird-calling devices, known locally as "Sawayat," found in Qatar's wilderness.
In a statement shared on its social media platforms, the Ministry confirmed that it had taken legal action against those involved and seized the devices. To strengthen enforcement, a dedicated team under the Wildlife Protection Department has been formed to monitor and address environmental violations, including the use of such devices.
The MoECC urged the public to comply with Ministerial Resolution No. 24 of 2023, which governs the hunting season for birds and wild animals. This initiative highlights the Ministry’s commitment to preserving Qatar’s natural biodiversity and preventing unlawful activities that harm the environment.
