The Ministry of Interior (MoI) took part in the 3rd National Forum for Human Rights, organized by the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) under the theme “Protecting Children’s Rights in a Secure Digital Environment: Challenges and Perspectives for Empowerment and Protection,” with the involvement of various relevant organizations.

At the forum's opening, Brig. Ali Hassan Al Kubaisi, Director of the Economic and Cyber Crimes Combating Department and MoI's representative, emphasized the ministry's commitment to combating electronic crime at all levels. He noted the global rise in electronic crime due to rapid technological advancements and affirmed that addressing cybercrimes, particularly those targeting children, is a key priority for the MoI.

He further mentioned that Qatar became the first Arab country in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to host the Interpol database aimed at protecting children from exploitation. This database has contributed to the arrest of several criminals involved in child exploitation worldwide.

Additionally, Cybercrime Combating Officer Captain Fahad Omair Al Shahrani presented a paper on national strategies and measures for protecting children’s rights in the digital realm. He outlined the vital work of the Economic and Cyber Crimes Combating Department in formulating and implementing policies to combat cybercrimes against children and safeguard them from potential dangers.

Al Shahrani also discussed the security risks children face online and the department’s efforts to protect them. He reviewed the department’s specialized office for combating online child exploitation, which uses advanced technologies to trace digital evidence and identify those who target children.
