FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour
Events of the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour concluded with a spectacular send-off event organized at Katara Cultural Village on Tuesday evening.
A host of activities have been organized across the country to mark the 200-day countdown to the tournament, the first FIFA World Cup in the Middle East and Arab world. Tuesdays final event was open to the public and included a memorable stage show attended by many prominent personalities, including Brazilian football legend Cafu, twice a winner of the FIFA World Cup.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), official spokesman for the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy Khalid Al Naama expressed his happiness with the festive atmosphere that accompanied the last leg of the promotional tour at Katara, which witnessed a wide public interaction.
He expressed pleasure with the great turnout, and that the promotional tour is launched from Qatar, which is hosting the tournament for the first time in the Arab region and the Middle East, from November 21 to December 18, 2022.
He also expressed pleasure with cooperating with Katara Cultural Village which hosted today the send-off event and celebrated the launch of the FIFA Original Trophy on its tour around the world.
He noted that the FIFA will reveal the Trophy's next destination and countries, explaining that the Trophy will be present in the 32 countries qualified for the World Cup Qatar 2022, in addition to some Gulf countries.
He called on fans around the world to follow the official accounts of FIFA and the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy in order to get acquainted with the countries that the Trophy will visit before returning again to Doha a few days before the start of the tournament.
For his part, Deputy Director General for Marketing, Communications and Tournament Experience at SC Khalid Ali Al Mawlawi expressed his happiness with the celebration which witnessed a great turnout from fans in Qatar, with only a few months left until the start of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
He said that the closing event at Katara Cultural Village was another wonderful evening on the road to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 as enthusiasm in Qatar and the region is rising while getting closer to this historic tournament.
In the same context, SC Stakeholder Relations Senior Manager Khaled Al Suwaidi valued the great public interaction during the promotional tour of the FIFA World Cup Original Trophy, which reflected the great enthusiasm as Qatar 2022 approaching.
Al Suwaidi added that the large public turnout during the promotional tour is a very positive sign, and it indicates the great enthusiasm and anticipation of the masses in Qatar.Â
Manager of the New Media Department at Katara Malika Al Shraim expressed her happiness with the large turnout which marked the closing day of the promotional tour of the FIFA Original Trophy; pointing to the rise in enthusiasm among the masses who are now waiting for the  big kick-off of this global event in November.
Speaking to QNA, she highlighted the accompanying activities of the promotional tour and the popular performances held at Katara which she said was among the main sites reviewed during Qatar's bid to host the World Cup.
The fans attending the promotional tour at Katara expected that Qatar World Cup to be the most unique in the history of the tournament, noting that everything will be different from previous versions as there will be no need for a long travel to attend matches.Â
Since 5 May, the trophy has visited a host of locations across Qatar, including Aspire Park, Lusail Marina and Msheireb Downtown Doha. It has also appeared at a number of businesses and organisations, as well as being hosted at Mohammed Bin Jassim House. Thousands of fans have engaged with the trophy as excitement continues to build ahead of the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup.
From 21 November to 18 December, Qatar will host the most compact edition of the FIFA World Cup in modern history. All eight stadiums are within one hours drive of central Doha, meaning fans and players will always be in the thick of the action. And uniquely in modern times, fans will have the chance to attend more than one match a day in the early stages of the tournament.
