Expo 2023 Doha organized the Japan day Event
The Japan Day event at the International Horticultural Expo 2023 Doha was organized in the presence of notable figures, including HE Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in Japan Takahashi Mitsuo, HE Expo 2023 Doha Commissioner General Ambassador Bader bin Omar Al Dafa, and Doha Expo 2023 Secretary-General Mohammed Ali Al Khouri, along with several diplomatic heads accredited to the State of Qatar, officials, and members of the Japanese community in Qatar.
During the celebration, HE Ambassador of Japan to the State of Qatar Satoshi Maeda expressed his joy in participating in Japan Day at Expo 2023 Doha. He extended gratitude for the involvement of high-ranking officials from the Japanese government, florists, landscape professionals, Japanese pavilion staff, and representatives from the International Horticultural Expo 2027 Yokohama.
Ambassador Maeda highlighted the significance of HE Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida's visit to Qatar in July, emphasizing its role in elevating the partnership between the two nations to a strategic level. He acknowledged the recent expansion of cooperation between Japan and Qatar in various fields, particularly in the energy sector.
Japan, being among the first countries to open a pavilion at Expo 2023 Doha, aimed to showcase plant species, flower culture, afforestation technology, and Japanese gardens. Additionally, the ambassador promoted the upcoming International Horticulture Expo scheduled for Yokohama in 2027.
Commending the exemplary organization of Expo 2023 Doha, Ambassador Maeda noted its remarkable attraction of over two million visitors. He anticipated a continued influx of visitors, especially with the captivating atmospheres prevailing until the end of March, coupled with the exciting atmosphere associated with the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023.
In conclusion, HE Satoshi Maeda expressed his hope that expo visitors would have enriching experiences exploring both the internal and external pavilions in Japan, gaining insights into Japanese culture, technology, and Yokohama city, which is the secondary host of this significant event. His Excellency also expressed a desire for Expo 2023 Doha to transition to Expo 2027 Yokohama, fostering deeper friendship ties between Japan and Qatar, as exemplified by the Japan Day event.
The Japan Day celebration highlighted prominent Japanese flowers and advancements in agriculture and horticulture. Subsequently, attendees took a tour of the Japanese pavilion, immersing themselves in the rich Japanese cultural heritage, traditional values, and contemporary creativity, making it a must-visit destination at the Doha Expo.
The Japanese pavilion emphasizes sustainability with solutions for water rationalization, local plants, and features interactive contests showcasing the art of coordinating bouquets. The pavilion offers video presentations showcasing Japanese landscapes, culture, customs, traditions, and national identity.
Furthermore, it addresses environmental issues such as pollution, migration of birds and animals, wildfires, and desertification as primary contributors to climate change. The presentation also provides insights into measures to save the planet.
