China Strongly Supports Lebanon in Protecting its Sovereignty and Security
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reaffirmed China’s unwavering support for Lebanon in upholding its sovereignty, security, and national dignity, while emphasizing peaceful solutions to the challenges in the Middle East. This statement was made during his meeting with Lebanese Caretaker Government's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdullah Bou Habib, in New York, where they exchanged views on regional developments.
Wang Yi highlighted China's concerns over recent incidents, including explosions of communication devices across Lebanon, and condemned attacks targeting civilians. He emphasized that force does not equate to justice and that violence will not resolve the Middle East’s complex issues. China stands firmly against actions violating international norms.
He also stressed the spillover effects from the Gaza conflict and called for a permanent ceasefire, troop withdrawal, and the effective implementation of the two-state solution to achieve lasting peace in the region.
In response, Bou Habib expressed gratitude for China’s support on international platforms like the UN, noting the critical importance for a small nation like Lebanon to safeguard its sovereignty and independence.Â
As the situation in the region remains volatile, China’s diplomatic focus on peaceful resolution echoes a wider global sentiment for stability—a concern that resonates with countries striving to balance external pressures while preserving internal security.
