The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that a new wave of military strikes against Iranian targets has begun, marking a sharp escalation in Washingtonâs response to recent regional attacks attributed to Tehran and its allied militias.
In a statement released early Tuesday, CENTCOM said U.S. forces launched âcoordinated precision strikesâ against sites linked to Iranâs Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and affiliated groups across multiple locations. The targets reportedly included weapons storage facilities, command-and-control centers, and drone launch sites used in recent attacks on U.S. personnel and regional partners.
CENTCOM described the operation as part of an ongoing campaign to âdegrade Iranâs ability to conduct and support destabilizing activities,â stressing that the strikes were designed to limit civilian harm and avoid broader escalation. The command added that the action was taken after ârepeated hostile actsâ by Iranian-backed groups, including drone and missile attacks on U.S. bases and commercial shipping.
U.S. officials said the strikes were carried out with a mix of air and long range precision assets, though they did not disclose the exact number of targets or aircraft involved. Early assessments indicate the operation achieved its objectives, according to CENTCOM.
The Iranian government has not yet issued a formal response, but state media condemned the strikes as âaggressionâ and warned that retaliation could follow. Regional observers say the latest U.S. action risks intensifying tensions at a time when diplomatic efforts to reduce hostilities remain fragile.
Security analysts note that the new wave of strikes signals Washingtonâs intent to impose sustained military pressure on Iranâs regional network, rather than isolated retaliatory actions. The U.S. has repeatedly stated that it does not seek war with Iran but will respond decisively to threats against its forces and interests.
CENTCOM emphasized that the United States remains committed to protecting its personnel and maintaining stability in the region, adding that further actions will depend on Iranâs behavior in the coming days.
