Awqaf inaugurates Fahad bin Faleh Al Shahwani Mosque in Al-Jumayliyah

The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf), represented by its Mosques Department, has inaugurated the Fahad bin Faleh Al Shahwani Mosque in the Al-Jumayliyah area following its demolition and complete reconstruction.

The project is part of the ministry’s ongoing programme to expand mosque infrastructure and improve religious services in line with Qatar’s urban development and growing population.

Modern Mosque Built to Serve the Community

The newly rebuilt mosque and its facilities have been constructed on a 750-square-metre site using modern engineering standards to provide an integrated and comfortable environment for worshippers.

The mosque is registered as Mosque No. (M.S. 388) and has the capacity to accommodate 156 worshippers. It also features:

• Ablution facilities

• A minaret with traditional Islamic architectural design

• Modern amenities designed to enhance the worship experience

Endowment Reflects Spirit of Giving

The mosque was funded through the generous endowment of a benefactor, highlighting the important role of waqf (endowment) in supporting the construction and development of houses of worship.

Awqaf praised the donor's contribution, describing it as an act of ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah) that will continue benefiting worshippers and the wider community for years to come.

The ministry prayed that the charitable endowment would be accepted and rewarded as a lasting source of good deeds.

Supporting Community Development

The ministry emphasized that the project demonstrates the growing role of endowments in community development while reflecting the values of generosity and social solidarity that characterize Qatari society.

Through charitable contributions, donors continue to support mosque construction and other endowment projects that benefit both individuals and society.

Continued Expansion of Mosque Infrastructure

Awqaf confirmed it will continue implementing projects to build mosques, prayer halls and residences for imams across Qatar.

The ministry said all projects are carried out according to the highest engineering and technical standards to ensure sustainability, quality and efficient service delivery.

The Engineering Affairs Department oversees the design, construction and maintenance of these facilities to maintain approved technical standards.

Digital Services for Worshippers

To improve accessibility, the Ministry also offers a geographic mosque search service through its official website, allowing worshippers to locate nearby mosques using digital maps and modern navigation systems.

The service is designed to make it easier for residents and visitors to find mosques across Qatar while enhancing the overall quality of religious services.
