Awqaf Ministry Announces the Fixed Zakat Al Fitr Amount for This Year's Ramadan

The Zakat Affairs Department of the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs has set the Zakat Al Fitr for Ramadan 1446H at QR 15 per person.

In an official statement, the department urged individuals to ensure timely payment of Zakat Al Fitr on behalf of themselves and their dependents, regardless of age or gender. It emphasized that Zakat Al Fitr must be paid before the Eid Al Fitr prayer.

According to the Ministry, the required amount per person is 2.5 kilograms of the staple food of the country. This should be distributed to the poor and needy. Alternatively, the monetary equivalent of QR 15 may be given if it serves a greater benefit.

The statement further clarified that a group’s collective Zakat Al Fitr may be given to a single needy person even after the Eid prayer. If someone forgets to pay it on time, they may do so later without incurring blame.
