The ruling family of Qatar is celebrating as Her Highness Sheikha Mariam bint Mishaal Al Thani marks a major milestone at the Al Zaeem Mohammed Bin Abdullah Al Attiyah Air Academy.
The Qatari royal, daughter of His Highness Sheikh Mishaal and niece of the Emir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, graduated from the Air Academy with flying colours and earned the rank and title of Pilot Lieutenant at the Al Udeid Air Base.
Being the first of Qatar’s royal family to make a stride in aviation truly marks a first of firsts. Naturally, Sheikh Tamim was there to honour his niece as the patron of the graduation.
Among the 12th batch of cadets, the Emir was seen taking a photo with Sheikha Mariam. He proudly smiled at his niece, who was wearing the Academy’s official colours and a badge.
The Sheikha completed the four-year programme, which highlights an array of foundational piloting skills. Notably, the graduates learned the arts of three specialities: fixed-wing pilot, rotary-wing pilot, and weapons systems operator.
Who is Sheikha Mariam bint Mishaal Al Thani?
HH Sheikha Mariam Bint Mishaal Al Thani is a member of the House Of Thani, the daughter of the HH Sheikh Mishaal bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani who is the first son of the previous Emir of Qatar.
Sheikha Mariam is one of seven siblings, including her brothers, Sheikh Abdullah (a member of the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club), Sheikh Muhamma, and Sheikh Hamad, and her sisters, Sheikha Rowdha, Sheikha Mariam, Sheikha Aisha, and Sheikha Sara.
Not much is known about the Sheikha as she prefers to live a low-profile lifestyle, but despite that, the State Of Qatar and avid royal watchers are eagerly anticipating the next milestone in the royal’s life.
